First up is a 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, or, for those who prefer diesel power, choose the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo diesel engine. This block pumps out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Depending on the engine setup you go with, it comes mated to a six-, eight-, or 10-speed automatic transmission. With the diesel engine, the Silverado 1500 can tow up to 9,500 pounds. If you want the maximum towing capacity, opt for the 6.2-liter engine that's capable of pulling up to 13,300 pounds.
