2021 GMC Acadia
If you're in the market for a small pickup truck, the 2021 GMC Canyon is a great-looking truck with awesome capability and a well-equipped cab packed with the latest technology. You can choose from five trim levels, three engines, and two cab and bed sizes that enable you to get the features you need for your work or play.
Trim Levels
For 2021, the GMC Canyon's trim levels have been revised to include Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4 Cloth, AT4 Leather, and Denali trims. The Canyon is available with an extended cab with a long box or the roomy crew cab with a short or long box.
Going with the Elevation Standard gets you black trim, daytime running lights, 18-inch black-gloss aluminum wheels, cab-mounted bed lights, and a rear corner step bumper. The Elevation trim offers LED fog lamps, color-keyed door handles and heated power mirrors, a sliding rear windshield, and an EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate with remote locking.
Designed for off-roading, the AT4 trims feature an exclusive black chrome grille, skid plates, and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The range-topping Denali has a unique bright chrome grille, 20-inch wheels, LED cargo bed lighting, a spray-in bed liner, and chrome running boards, door handles, and mirror caps.
Engine
The two lower trims are powered by a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 191 pound-feet of torque via a six-speed automatic transmission. Under the hood of AT4 and Denali trims is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivering 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. It's matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can opt for a 181-horsepower 2.8-liter turbo diesel that develops 369 pound-feet of torque via a six-speed automatic.
Performance
Depending on how your truck is configured, the Canyon has a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,578 pounds. The AT4 comes standard with a four-wheel-drive system that is optional for other trims. It features a two-speed transfer case, an automatic locking rear differential, hitch guidance, and tow/haul driving mode for optimal off-road and towing performance.
Interior
The Canyon Elevation Standard features a modern, stylish cab with cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, air conditioning, and a 3.5-inch multi-function display. The GMC Infotainment System includes a 7-inch touch-screen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, two front USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio.
Go with the Elevation for keyless entry, remote start, a leather-bound steering wheel, automatic climate control, a tilting and telescoping steering column, an 8-inch touch-screen display, and two rear USB ports. The AT4 Cloth adds heated front seats, while the AT4 Leather features leather seating, a heated steering wheel, a 4.2-inch multi-function display, and HD radio. The luxurious Denali trim offers ventilated front seats, integrated navigation, an auxiliary input, an SD card reader, and a premium seven-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety Features
Standard safety features for the Canyon include electronic stability control, traction control, a rearview camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, tire fill alert, and teen driver functions, including the new Buckle-to-Drive feature. AT4 Leather trims add rear park assist, while the Denali has lane departure warning and forward-collision warning.
