2021 GMC Sierra 1500
If you're in the market for a stylish full-size pickup truck, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is one of the most capable light-duty trucks in its class. Whether you use your truck for work or play, the choice of six trim levels, five engines, and three cab and bed sizes enable you to tailor your Sierra to match your needs.
Trim Levels
With its bold styling and elegant lines, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 stands out from run-of-the-mill trucks. You can choose from base, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and Denali trim levels. Depending on the model, the Sierra is available with a regular, double, or crew cab and a short, standard, or long bed.
Going with the base trim gets you LED headlamps and daytime running lights, chrome bumpers, 17-inch wheels, cab-mounted cargo lamps, a corner step rear bumper, and LED taillights. The SLE trim offers aluminum wheels, color-keyed door handles, heated mirrors, a power lock and release EZ Lift tailgate, and LED box lighting.
Elevation models feature LED fog lamps, color-keyed bumpers, and 20-inch wheels, while the SLT trim has chrome accents, 18-inch wheels, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, and the class-exclusive six function MultiPro tailgate. Designed for off-roading, the AT4 has exclusive rugged details, raised suspension, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, color-keyed trim, and a spray-in bed liner. The sophisticated Denali features side steps, 20-inch wheels, and a power-sliding rear windshield.
Engine
Starting the engine lineup is the base model's 285-horsepower 4.3-liter V-6 that delivers 305 pound-feet of torque. It's matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. Powering the SLE is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Other models come standard with a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8 developing 383 pound-feet of torque. Also available are a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel and a 6.2-liter V-8 gas engine, each mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Depending how your truck is configured, the Sierra 1500 offers a towing capacity of up to 11,800 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,170 pounds. The AT4 has a standard all-wheel-drive system that is optional for other models.
Interior
The base trim's cab features air conditioning, a 3.5-inch multi-function display, and the GMC infotainment system with smartphone integration, Bluetooth, a 7-inch touch screen, and a six-speaker sound system. Go with the SLE for heated front seats and steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a 4.2-inch multi-function display, cruise control, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
With the SLT, you get driver memory features, a power-adjustable passenger seat, an 8-inch touch screen, and two 120-volt power outlets. The range-topping Denali features ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, an 8-inch digital instrument display, navigation, and a Bose audio system.
Safety Features
The Sierra comes standard with electronic stability control, traction control, a rear seat reminder, tire pressure monitoring, and a rearview camera. Available driver-assist technology includes lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane change alert, blind-spot monitoring, a following distance indicator, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, and rear cross-traffic warning. An available ProGrade Trailering System makes it easier to hitch and tow a trailer.
