2021 GMC Terrain
If you're looking for a small SUV that offers the upscale features you'd expect in bigger vehicles, the 2021 GMC Terrain is for you. With four well-appointed trim levels, two punchy engines, and a number of optional packages, you can tailor your Terrain with the features you want.
Trim Levels
The 2021 GMC Terrain stands apart from the crowd with its dynamic front-end styling, distinctive C-shaped lighting, and sleek and elegant profile. You can choose from SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali trim levels.
With the SL model, you get xenon headlights, signature LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, body-colored door handles, heated power mirrors, deep-tinted rear glass, and unique sculpted taillights.
The SLE trim offers body-colored mirrors, while stepping up to the SLT gets you fog lights, auto-dimming mirrors with turn signals, 18-inch wheels, roof rails, and a programmable hands-free power tailgate. The top-of-the-line Denali gets 19-inch wheels and LED headlamps.
Engine
Most Terrain models feature a responsive turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Optional for the SLT and standard in the Denali is a smooth 252 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 260 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is matched with both engines.
Performance
With its smooth, refined ride and accurate handling, the terrain offers a premium driving experience. The Denali features premium suspension for an even more sophisticated and controlled ride. The Terrain comes standard with front-wheel drive and all but the SL model has the option of an all-wheel-drive system. The 2.0-liter powertrain gives you a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Interior
Even with a full complement of five passengers, the Terrain's spacious, contemporary cabin gives you 29.6 cubic feet of storage space for all your gear. With the rear seats folded flat, you get a generous 63.3-cubic-foot cargo area. The front passenger seatback folds flat, enabling you to fit items up to 8-feet long.
The SL trim offers keyless open and start, premium fabric upholstery, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, and two 12-volt power outlets. The GMC infotainment system features smartphone capability, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, voice recognition, a 7-inch touch screen, USB charging and data ports, and a six-speaker audio system.
Going with the SLT gets you remote start, perforated leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, two-zone automatic temperature control, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and a 110-volt power outlet. It also has an 8-inch infotainment touch screen, an SD card reader, an auxiliary input, and a Bose seven-speaker sound system with HD radio.
Safety Features
The Terrain comes standard with GMC Pro Safety, which includes automatic high beams, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a following distance indicator, forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and front pedestrian braking.
Adding the GMC Pro Safety Plus package gives you adaptive cruise control, lane change alert with blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking assistance, and a safety alert seat. Denali models add front parking assist. Other available features include autonomous parallel and perpendicular park assist and an HD surround-view camera system for an overhead view of your vehicle.
