Drive on Over: Four Free Things to Do Near Tulare, CA

1. Del Lago Park

Del Lago Park at 1700 N Laspina Street is one of the best family-friendly parks in the area. This natural park has numerous exciting features, including tennis courts, picnic areas, basketball courts, and even a water play area to cool down on those hot summer days. Kids can feed the ducks at the lakes while you set up a family picnic in the park. If you want to have a cookout, you can also use the park’s barbecue grills.
The picnic shelters can comfortably accommodate up to 50 people if you’re planning a larger get-together with family and friends. At night, you can also stargaze in the park with your beau.

2. Live Oak Park

Just down the street from Del Lago Park is Live Oak Park, located at 600 N Laspina Street. While the park does charge for reservations if you want to use the entire picnic shelter or one of the sports fields, there are still plenty of free things you can do at this park. The children’s play area and walking paths are both free to all visitors and, since the walking paths wind through most of the park, you can treat yourself to some of the prettiest sights in nature.

3. Tulare Historical Museum

Located at 444 West Tulare Ave, the Tulare Historical Museum is a great place to spend a few hours. The museum offers free admission to the entire museum every first Saturday of the month from noon to 4 pm, while admission to the Heritage Art Gallery and Depot Gallery is free every day. Children under the age of five also have daily free admission.

4. Tulare Public Library

For bookworms and people who want to interact with members of their community, the Tulare Public Library at 475 North M Street has several free events every month. Some of these events include Story Time in the Kid’s Space, Thursday and Saturday Book Club, Adult Craft, and Builder Zone. Aside from free library programs, borrowing a library book is always a fun (and free) way to open your imagination.
There are plenty of free places to go and events to participate in throughout the year in Tulare. From parks to libraries, you can have fun on any budget. If you’re ready to explore some of the best free places in the area, make sure you stop by Stone Chevrolet Buick GMC for an oil change first.
